Morgan Whittaker 'high up' on Rangers' list and Michael Beale will go back in claims Ibrox hero

Morgan Whittaker will still be high up on Michael Beale's Rangers wish list.

That's the verdict of former Light Blues defender Alan Hutton who believes his former club will revisit a move for the Swansea City attacker if they can make it happen in the summer after it failed to materialise in January. The Ibrox boss revealed the club had a bid knocked back and the interest stopped at that point with Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin the two players to come in during the winter window.

The English Championship outfit recalled the attacker from his loan at Plymouth Argyle and he was on the scoresheet last night as they lost out 3-1 to Stoke City. He netted after just two minutes but the away side turned the game on its head before the 20 minute mark and secured the points in added-time to dent Russell Martin and Co's play-off chances.

Hutton believes Rangers have missed someone on the right and coming in on the left since Joe Aribo left although he did hail Fashion Sakala for stepping up. But he does believe that the Ibrox men will return to the table to make a deal happen.

He told Football Insider: “Just because it did not happen in January does not mean that they won’t go back in.

“I think they will. It is obviously a player that Michael Beale likes.

“He gives you a different sort of option from the right, coming in on the left. I think they have missed that area of the pitch since [Joe] Aribo left even though the likes of [Fashion] Sakala have stepped up.

“I think they will revisit it if they can make it happen in the summer. It did not quite work in January but I think it is someone that will still be high up on Michael Beale’s list.“
