Morgan Stevens dead: Melrose Place actor found dead at home aged 70

Actor Morgan Stevens has been found dead at home at the age of 70 after police carried out a wellness check.

The star who was best known for appearing on Melrose Place, Fame and A Year in the Life, was found dead in his kitchen, police confirmed to TMZ.

A source told the outlet that a neighbour called authorities to conduct a wellness check after the actor hadn't been seen or heard from in a few days.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed they do not suspect foul play and said Morgan most likely died of natural causes.

Throughout his career, the Tennessee-native made a string of guest appearances on a host of big-name TV shows, including Murder, She Wrote and One Day at a Time.

He took up the role of Paul Northridge in much-loved sitcom The Waltons. His character only appeared in one episode and his character married Erin Walton.

He was better known for his role as David Reardon in Fame. He played the teacher for two seasons on the show.

His final TV appearance came in 1999 as he acted on Walker, Texas Ranger.

He worked alongside a host of huge names throughout his career, including Heather Locklear and Chuck Norris.

During the 1990s, Morgan was at the centre of an alleged police brutality incident after being arrested for an alleged DUI.

According to TMZ, he claimed that after waiting for 90 minutes in a cell, he refused to hand back a shirt that was given and was then set upon by two jail employees who kicked and beat him over two dozen times.

He later sued and reached an out-of-court settlement after he had left jail with a broken nose, a fractured cheek, a dislocated jaw and nerve damage.
