Morgan Schneiderlin's message to Everton fans following knee surgery confirmation

Morgan Schneiderlin has posted a message to Everton supporters after it was confirmed the midfielder has had surgery on his knee.

It was revealed on Friday following Carlo Ancelotti's pre-Manchester United press conference that the Frenchman had suffered a torn meniscus in the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

The 30-year-old was replaced with half an hour to go at the Emirates Stadium by Andre Gomes , who made his return after a long-term layoff with a fracture dislocation of his right ankle.

Schneiderlin is set for an extended spell on the sidelines, but took to social media to reassure Everton supporters he will be back stronger.

The midfielder posted a picture on his official Instagram page of him resting his leg following surgery earlier in the week.

Schneiderlin's post read: "So sad about my injury, I will come back stronger, thanks to @fortiusclinic for the op and @embodyism for all the help. And thanks son for the early treatment"

The Frenchman has made 15 Premier League appearances so far this season and started each of his side's last two matches, the defeat to Arsenal and the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace before the winter break.
