Morgan Rogers has signed a new contract at Manchester City before joining Bournemouth on loan for the season, a move which could be made permanent.
City signed the promising winger from West Brom in a £3.96 million move in 2019 and he spent the latter half of last season at League One's Lincoln City, impressing with six goals and four assists in 28 appearances.
Rogers returned to the Blues and started for Pep Guardiola in the 2-0 friendly win over Preston in pre-season, as well as coming off the bench in victories over Barnsley and Blackpool.
Now the 19-year-old has extended his contract with the Blues until 2024 and has joined promotion-chasing Bournemouth in the Championship for the rest of the season.
Rogers could make the switch permanent with an option to buy as part of the agreement, the Cherries said in a statement.
“Morgan has all the attributes to become an outstanding player which Manchester City clearly recognised when they signed him," Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said.
“He had a good grounding in the academy at West Brom and enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with Lincoln City in League One last season, helping them reach the play-off final.
“We are absolutely delighted to have secured his services and he can only add to what is a young, talented and exciting squad of players – we very much look forward to working with him.”
