Morgan Gibbs-White sends 'incredible' Steve Cooper message after Nottingham Forest win

Morgan Gibbs-White has hailed Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper's man management as "incredible".

The 23-year-old scored the fourth goal of the Reds' thrilling 4-3 over Southampton on Monday night to secure a vital win. Forest are now out of the Premier League bottom three with just three games left.

And if the Reds go on to secure their top-flight status, much of the credit will go to the influential performances of Gibbs-White in midfield. He has scored four goals alongside eight assists in the league since his arrival in the summer from Wolves.

And in the aftermath of Forest's huge win, Gibbs-White has opened up on the impact of Cooper, who also managed him when England won the U17 World Cup in 2017.

"I wish I had this relationship with every manager," he told Sky Sports. "The way he man manages players is incredible. I worked with him with England.

"I feel sorry for him the way the season has gone. We aren't playing the way he's wanted to this season but hopefully, that can change.

"All he says to me is 'go and get on the ball and be free'. Obviously I do have to defend too. It's all about believing in him and I take my hat off to him for everything he's done."
