Morgan Freeman has said the short dresses worn by his producing partner detract from her desire to be taken seriously.
The 79-year-old Oscar-winning actor said he's 'sexist but not misogynistic' in response to the comments about his producing partner Lori McCreary.
McCreary is a former tech entrepreneur who is the CEO and co-founder alongside Freeman of Revelations Entertainment.
Speaking in a panel discussion in front of an audience of 400 people on Saturday, Freeman recalled his first meeting with McCreary in which “she had on a dress cut to here" according to reports in The Hollywood Reporter.
“He’s not a pig, I promise,” interrupted moderator and producer Mark Gordon at the Produced By conference discussion, and then added, “maybe he is.”
“She doesn’t want to be thought of as a pretty face,” said Freeman of McCreary. “She wants to be thought of as serious. But you can’t get away from the short dresses.”
After Gordon remarked that his comments could be perceived as sexist and misogynistic, Freeman replied, “Sexist? Yeah, but I’m not misogynistic.”
In the discussion, he commended McCreary as a “good person” and said they had a good relationship and she was the boss at the office. McCreary also spoke fondly of him.
Freeman made headlines earlier in the week for kissing actress Marcia Gay Harden on the lips.
A representative for Freeman did not immediately respond to request for comment.
