Morgan Fox to Nottingham Forest transfer rumour rated and assessed

With just a couple of weeks remaining in 2019, thoughts are beginning to switch to the upcoming January transfer window.

Nottingham Forest could well dip into the transfer market to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

The Reds are in eighth place in the Sky Bet Championship table, and remain in good place to mount a challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

In terms of potential incomings in the New Year, the latest player to be linked with a move to the City Ground is .

Here is a round-up of the rumour, and what he would bring to the Reds should a deal get completed.

Who?

Fox plays as a left-back at the Hillsborough outfit, and has had to battle with Moses Odubajo for the regular starting spot under Garry Monk.

Since joining the Owls in January 2017 from Charlton Athletic, Fox has made 88 appearances with 17 of those coming this term.

His one and only goal this season came in a 2-2 draw with Swansea City in November, and the 26-year-old has the ability to play at centre-back if needed.

Reports in TEAMtalk are claiming that the Reds are interested in signing the Owls left-back, but face competition from Championship rivals Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers.

They add that Fox’s contract at Hillsborough expires at the end of the season, and the Owls could be set to lose the 26-year-old in the January transfer window.

Forest currently have two first-choice left backs at the club in Yuri Ribeiro and Jack Robinson.

Riberio has been suffering with a knee injury in recent weeks, having not featured for the Reds since their win over Derby at the start of November.

The injury to the summer signing has meant that Robinson is currently Forest’s only fit recognised left-back.

Robinson struggled in the 4-0 defeat to Wednesday at the weekend, as did many of his colleagues on that sorry afternoon at the City Ground.

It remains to be seen whether Lamouchi feels the need to strengthen his left-back options in the New Year.

Should Forest opt to sign Fox next month, they would be getting someone who knows the division and is capable of performing consistently.
