Morgan Deane opens up about horror knife attack she witnessed while with children in South African restaurant

Irish singer Morgan Deane has spoken out about a frightening knife incident she witnessed while with her children in South Africa.

The Co Cork woman was out in Cape Town, where she lives, with her children Cadence, five, and Carter, three, when they saw a gang of men attempting to stab a security guard.

Morgan, who is going out with Script drummer Glen Power, has now revealed that she is thinking about returning home from Cape Town after the shocking ordeal.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, she said: "Mug n Bean Cavendish this morning with the kids having breakfast, gang passing through the shopping centre grabbed a knife off the table next to us and tried to knife a security guard in front of everyone, my kids included.

“Thank God this guy’s friend jumped on his back and knocked the knife out of his hand. They (the gang) all poured into the street and eventually dispersed. I mean seriously. It’s just the pits.”

Morgan moved to South Africa after marrying ex-husband Graeme Smith who she met previously, while holidaying in the country.

The couple parted in 2015, with Morgan opting to stay in Cape Town.

She later met drummer Script drummer Glen Power while the band was touring South Africa.

Speaking to a friend who had recently left South Africa for the safety of their children, Morgan said: “You made a wise decision.

“The beautiful landscape isn’t enough any more to out weight the statistics.

“It’s frightening. Jeez it’s going from bad to worse. 47 murders in Cape Town last weekend.”

It appears that a move back to Ireland could be on the cards with the mum-of-two recently posting photos of her driving through Cork with her boyfriend last month.

She said: “I didn’t realise how serious a decision I was making when I got on that plane to come here and get married. Love is a funny thing. I sacrificed everything for my family and my marriage.”
