Morgan Burnett explains why he signed with the Browns

Morgan Burnett took the practice field with the Cleveland Browns for the first time this week. The veteran safety signed with the Browns this offseason after an underwhelming season in Pittsburgh, his first away from the Packers after 8 solid seasons in Green Bay to start his career.

Burnett joined the Jim Rome Show to explain why he jumped from one AFC North rival to another.

“It was familiar faces that I was used to working with in Green Bay,” Burnett said before explaining further. “But you see all the talent they have and the excitement coming around and just to have the opportunity to sign a guy like myself going into my 10th year. I was very excited about it.”

Browns execs John Dorsey, Alonzo Highsmith and Eliot Wolf were both part of the management team in Green Bay responsible for drafting Burnett and molding him into a reliable starter.

Burnett quickly added, “It felt like family, felt like home.”

The 30-year-old later reaffirmed the Dorsey connection as a reason he was excited to come to Cleveland.
