Morel Mushrooms: Hello! Morel of the Week begins in seriousness in northern Illinois

Kyle Danhausen texted on Friday a photo of a lone morel mushroom poking up with one word, “Hello!”

An hour later, he texted a bowl with six morels soaking in water.

“Hello!” indeed.

With the warming and dampness this week, it is time.
