Morecambe midfielder has injury blow confirmed ahead of taking on Bolton Wanderers

Morecambe will be without John O'Sullivan for the visit of Bolton Wanderers after it was confirmed that the attacking midfielder would be out for the season.

The former Blackburn Rovers youth teamer has scored five times for the Shrimps this season as the Lancashire outfit sit a point behind Wanderers heading into this weekend's big League Two clash.

It is third against fourth in the division with the battle for promotion showing no signs of letting up.

Wanderers are only a point ahead of the Shrimps as things stand and know that victory over the Lancashire side will take them four points clear of Derek Adams' side and could be a huge step towards securing automatic promotion back to League One.

A Morecambe win would see them leapfrog the Whites into the automatic promotion spots.

O'Sullivan has been out of action after limping off with a hamstring injury in the win against Oldham Athletic.

But Adams has confirmed that O'Sullivan will be out for the season and will not face Bolton this Saturday.

He told the Visitor : “He will be out for the season.

“He’s done very well for us and I think he will be missed but it meant we could give Freddie Price his first league start at Grimsby.”

Jordan Slew is also out for the Shrimps.

Taking to Twitter, the 27-year-old O'Sullivan posted: "I’m devastated to be doing this tweet. But the season is over for me. I’ve given everything this season and just picked up an injury at the worse time.

"I’ll be cheering the boys on until the end and hopefully they can finish the job."
