Victorians have snapped up 40,000 extra regional tourism vouchers, aimed at encouraging people to holiday at home and boosting an economy ravaged by COVID-19.
The allocation of the latest batch of vouchers, allowing Victorians to recoup $200 in holiday costs, was exhausted shortly after registration opened on Wednesday.
The state government said 70,000 vouchers had previously been allocated, with the most popular destinations the Mornington Peninsula, Surf Coast, Bass Coast, East Gippsland and the High Country.
The latest round of vouchers can be redeemed for travel between January 27 and April 1.
Travellers must be from Victoria, and spend at least $400 on accommodation, tours or other experiences in regional areas, the Mornington Peninsula, or the Yarra and Dandenong ranges.
The vouchers can only be redeemed afterwards.
Another 40,000 vouchers are expected to be released on March 30.
Eager holiday makers crashed the website at the initial launch of the program in December.
