More travel vouchers for SA accommodation

The SA government will provide $100 vouchers for use on CBD and North Adelaide accommodation. (AAP)

The South Australian government will issue a second round of travel vouchers to stimulate the state's tourism sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The $2 million allocation will provide $100 vouchers for use on CBD and North Adelaide accommodation and $50 vouchers to help cover stays in suburban and regional locations.

The new vouchers will available from January 5 and come after the first round of 50,000 were snapped up quickly, injecting an estimated $10 million into the visitor economy.

This time around they will also be available to interstate visitors and will include more smaller operators, those offering five rooms or more.

"The first round of vouchers injected millions into our state's economy, creating tens of thousands of room night bookings and most importantly, sustaining and creating jobs in our tourism industry," Premier Steven Marshall said.

"We know the summer holidays are traditionally a peak period for our tourism operators and we are acting now to give travellers another incentive to visit our world-class regions and CBD."

The vouchers must be used for travel between January 7 and March 31 next year.
