More than three million tune into Andrea Bocelli Music for Hope Easter Sunday performance

Over three million people tuned in to watch Andrea Bocelli’s Music for Hope performance from all over the world on Easter Sunday.

As fans all over the world celebrated Easter from their homes, all eyes were on the Italian tenor’s concert live from an empty Milan Cathedral as it is reported 3.4 million tuned in.

The Music for Hope performance is also available on YouTube and has been watched more than 24 million times so far.

Accompanied by an organist, Bocelli sang four songs inside the magnificent Duomo di Milano.

He ended the historic performance with a rendition of Amazing Grace from the cathedral steps with a montage of images showing the empty streets of Paris, London and New York.

Andrea's performance had a hopeful and inspiring message (PA)

In a message played before the short concert, the singing sensation said:

“On the day in which we celebrate the trust in a life that triumphs, I’m honoured and happy to answer ‘Si’ to the invitation of the City and the Duomo of Milan,”

“Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded Earth’s pulsing heart.”
