Picture a boy slowly drowning in the sea. He's trying to survive, but it's too late.
He bangs his head. He dies. What next?
Unfortunately, I can't tell you what happens next because I don't want to give away the plot. But what I can tell you is that if you enjoy reading mysteries, you'll love this book!
This is the first novel I've read by Patrick Ness and I think his writing style is very clever. In particular, the author is very skilled at setting the scene and describing the surroundings in minute detail.
He's also very good at conveying how the main character feels and what he's thinking. Very quickly, you become attached to this character – he's a typical teenager with everyday problems and difficulties, which all adolescent readers will be able to relate to.
Patrick Ness definitely knows how to keep readers intrigued and desperate to read the next chapter. He also adds little touches of humour here and there, along with loads of action and mystery.
When More Than This was first published, I watched a trailer for the book on YouTube. Although it was quite sinister, the trailer immediately made me want to find out what happened next and I'm so glad I've finally had the chance to solve the mystery!
I hope you enjoy reading More Than This as much as I did and I can't wait to read some more novels by Patrick Ness.
