More than half of Brits have ignored rules and broken coronavirus lockdown

A leaked Government paper has revealed that more than 60 per cent of adults aged under 44, have broken lockdown restrictions.

And at least half of adults, in all age groups, didn't follow Boris Johnson's stay at home advice to the letter.

The document from the C19 National Foresight Working Group was leaked to the Sun.

The data which was gathered back in May, when the lockdown was still in place, also revealed that less than 20 per cent of adults were wearing face masks when they went outside.

According to the Sun, the paper read: “Retired people are most likely to engage in physical distancing behaviours, which may reflect ongoing recognition for the increased risk to older adults.”

From today, face coverings are compulsory in airports, and from next Monday, June 15 they need to be worn in hospitals by all visitors and staff, and on public transport too.

It also said that just a quarter of people surveyed wanted schools to reopen on June 1.

Minor changes to the lockdown rules have come into force from today, Monday, June 8.

Dentists have been told they can begin taking appointments and open their doors to patients again.

Although dentists were permitted to perform emergency treatment during the lockdown, everyday appointments for fillings and crowns were cancelled to stop the spread of the virus.

Travellers arriving in England will be required to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival, from today also.

The temporary measure will see tens of thousands of new arrivals to placed in quarantine, although the measures have been criticised for causing disruption to the travel and aviation industry.

Some local authorities across the UK are reintroducing parking charges today, after weeks of them being suspended.
