'More than good enough' - The lowdown on Coventry City full-back linked with Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers are said to be interested in Jack Grimmer.

The right-back was recently released by Coventry City and has now been linked with a move to Rovers, who are looking to strengthen their defence.

In order to find out what sort of player Rovers could be signing, we spoke to Coventry Live reporter Andy Turner to get the lowdown on Grimmer. You can follow Andy on Twitter at @AndyTurnerCCFC

What type of right-back is he?

A marauding full-back. Loves to get forward and cross or cut into the box. He has the odd goal in him as well, having scored three for City in his first season, two notably against then-Premier League Stoke to knock them out of the FA Cup and a brilliant strike in the play-off final at Wembley.

How come he was released?

Doesn't figure in the manager's plans and hasn't all season really. Despite an excellent first season at the club Mark Robins secured the services of Dujon Sterling on loan from Chelsea and the teenager was pretty much first choice from day one.

He seems to have proved popular with Coventry fans, were they disappointed to see him leave?

A lot of fans feel sorry for Jack, who has always been popular with the supporters. 'Gutted' was a popular response when it was finally announced that he was leaving.

He obviously did not play much this past season, did he look League One quality in the games he was involved in?

Yes and I have no doubt he's more than good enough for League One. Unfortunately he never managed to get going and that, understandably, affected his match fitness in his latter appearances. But he's a good player and brilliant character who, I am sure, will be a hit with the fans at his next club.
