More than a thousand homes in Cardiff are without power

More than a thousands properties in Cardiff are currently without power.

Western Power Distribution said 1,030 properties in the Grangetown area with the CF11 postcode are currently a experiencing a 'high voltage' incident. This means that multiple properties are affected over a large area.

It said 153 properties are affected in the CF24 area of north Cardiff and 171 in the CF14 area.

Western Power Distribution said it is aware of the incident and hopes to restore electricity by 1.30pm.

It said they are working on the CF14 area and hope to restore power there by 1pm. It also hopes to have power back on in the CF24 area by 4pm.

Updated: As of 12.31pm the power to Grangetown (CF11) has now been restored. CF24 is still showing up as having 103 properties without power and CF24's problems have also been resolved according to westernpowerdistribution.co.uk

At 3.55pm a spokeswoman for WPD said that they are still investigating the cause of the cut and want to apologise to residents and business owners in the area.
