More than a dozen people led to safety after hot air balloon emergency landing

More than a dozen people had to be led to safety after a hot air balloon had to make an emergency landing in woods in Nottinghamshire.

Two fire crews were sent to the wooded area near Rainworth following the emergency landing on Tuesday evening, May 14.

A total of 17 people were led to safety by crews from Mansfield and Blidworth.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "There were 16 people and the pilot on board and they had to make an emergency landing in a wooded area.

"They set sail from Kelham Hall and it got quite dark quite quickly so we think they didn't know exactly where they were, so made an emergency landing.

"We got the call as they weren't quite sure where they were, and access was difficult. There were no injuries and the crews led them all to safety.

"We got the call at 10.48pm."
