More than 900 housing units approved for Dunshaughlin, Co Meath

A massive housing development of more than 900 units has been approved for a Dublin commuter town.

The Strategic Housing Development will be built in Dunshaughlin on a 28.3 hectare site.

It will include 505 houses, 186 duplex units and 222 apartments, with 90 of those homes assigned to social housing.

Work is expected to start at the end of 2019, with the first homes delivered to the public in Q3 of 2020.

It will also feature neighbourhood centre facilities including a childcare centre, two retail units and a primary healthcare unit/gym.

The approved application includes significant open space areas, such as playgrounds, as well as pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

The Department of Education has recently agreed to acquire adjoining lands for a new educational campus and are shortly expected to apply for planning permission for a new primary school on the site.

New playing pitches will also be provided for Dunshaughlin Youths Soccer Club, in collaboration with Meath County Council.
