More than 800 confirmed covid-19 cases across Nottinghamshire, latest Public Health England figures reveal

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nottinghamshire has now surpassed 800.

Data released by Public Health England as of April 10 shows the number of cases in Nottingham increased from 261 to 276, an rise of 15 cases in the past 24 hours.

In Nottinghamshire, the number jumped by 30 cases from 536 to 566, bringing the total across the county to 842.

The latest figures come as a further nine people were confirmed to have died in Nottingham's hospitals, on a day when the UK recorded a record 980 deaths in just 24 hours.

There are now, in total, 70,272 confirmed cases of the virus in the UK, with just under 9,000 deaths.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced today the Government now has the capacity to test all NHS and social care workers following criticism over how many tests were being conducted.

Top doctors at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust also said they were expecting a peak next week, but reiterated the volatile situation is changing every day.
