More than 80,000 people applied to register to vote yesterday when political leaders appealed through the Standard to the public to make sure they have their say at the general election.
Nearly 29,000 under-25s and 23,000 25 to 34-year-olds made online or paper applications, with the total yesterday being 83,100.
Applications peaked last Wednesday at 177,000 after the election was called and then fell significantly.
However, Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn and Jo Swinson united yesterday to urge people to register to vote given the potential significance of the December 12 poll, which could decide whether, or how, Britain quits the EU.
The Electoral Commission estimates between 900,000 and 1.3 million Londoners eligible to vote have not correctly registered to do so.
