More than 640 coronavirus cases recorded across Nottinghamshire in 24 hours

A total of 647 coronavirus cases have been recorded across Nottinghamshire in the past 24 hours, data shows.

In Nottingham city, 253 new cases were confirmed on Friday, October 23, up from 244 the previous day.

The total recorded since the start of the pandemic is now 9,787.

Across wider Nottinghamshire a total of 394 positive tests have been reported as of October 23, bringing the total to 10,841.

Outside of the city, Mansfield recorded the largest increase out of all areas in the wider county, with 90 new cases.

Here is the breakdown for each borough and district:

Ashfield   -1,576 (increase of 50)

Bassetlaw   - 1,353 (increase of 34)

Broxtowe   - 1,794 (increase of 57)

Gedling   - 1,745 (increase of 64)

Mansfield   - 1,125 (increase of 90)

Newark and Sherwood   - 1,393 (increase of 38)

Rushcliffe   - 1,855 (increase of 61)

Nottinghamshire leaders are currently in a meeting to discuss Tier 3 restrictions.

It is expected a decision will be made later today regarding some of the final details such as keeping gyms open, and the financial package of support.

On Monday next week MPs have been told these restrictions will be confirmed in Parliament, ready to come into force on the Wednesday.

In the UK, a total of 21,242 cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours, while 224 people have died.
