A yellow weather warning for snow was in place for parts of the North East including Consett, on Boxing Day morning.

More snow is expected in parts of County Durham and Northumberland over the next few days as temperatures plummet.

Northern Powergrid said: "Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible. The power cut affecting your property has been caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve your area.

"If you need to report an emergency, please call 105."
