More than 50% of people support the upcoming marriage of Princess Mako, the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Akishino, according to a nationwide survey conducted by The Yomiuri Shimbun.

Among respondents, 53% said they think it is good that the 29-year-old princess will marry the 30-year-old Kei Komuro on Oct. 26, while 33% said they do not think it is good.

In the survey, which was conducted earlier this week, more respondents supported the marriage than opposed it for all age groups.

Among respondents aged 18-39, 59% were in favor of the upcoming marriage.

By gender, 53% of men and 54% of women supported the nuptials.
