More than $40m to cut emissions red tape

Angus Taylor says $40 million will go towards cutting red tape so businesses can reduce emissions. (AAP)

More than $40 million will be put aside in next week's federal budget for measures to cut red tape for businesses wanting to reduce emissions.

The Clean Energy Regulator will get $40.4 million over 10 years to improve digital platforms in order to halve the time it takes for Emissions Reduction Fund projects to be registered.

The money will also go towards cutting the development time for new methods and creating a platform for emissions reduction units.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor said the initiative would help businesses save time and money as they try to reduce emissions.

Under the ERF companies are paid for projects to help reduce the nation's emissions.
