More than 400 turn out to the launch of Medowie's new school Catherine McAuley Catholic College

Grow: Principal Scott Donohoe met with prospective families at the Catherine McAuley Catholic College launch. The school will eventually accommodate 1200.

MORE than 400 people have attended Catherine McAuley Catholic College at Medowie's launch evening, ahead of its 2021 opening.

Foundation principal Scott Donohoe said about 270 enrolment packs were distributed, with applications for year seven and eight due by the end of this term.

"The crowd turnout exceeded our expectations," Mr Donohoe said. "There was high energy in the room."

The school unveiled its uniforms; motto, United in Mercy; and its visual identity, a Mercy Cross within concentric circles. Dotted lines depict a meeting place and links to the Worimi people.

Mr Donohoe said stage one of construction was on track to be completed before next January.

He said the college would now move to meeting with prospective families, establishing parent focus groups and hiring staff.
