More than 40 new jobs could be coming to North Tyneside as industrial scheme set to be approved

More than 40 new jobs could be coming to North Tyneside as proposals for a new industrial development are set to be given the green light.

Helio Pact Limited has asked for permission to build 14 industrial units on vacant land to the west of Alder Road on West Chirton Industrial Estate.

If the plans are given the go-ahead, each unit would be between 90-120 square metres, giving a total build area of 1,530 square metres.

It is not yet know what these new units will be used for, however, the applicant has estimated that they could create around 42 new full time jobs.

A document lodged with North Tyneside Council stressed that these jobs would be created by the users of the proposed units and not by the Hong Kong based applicant.

It said: “Employment as a result of the proposal being implemented will be by the occupational users of the new units.

"As denoted on the planning application this will be for approximately 42 full time (or equivalent) workers. Please note this will not be by direct employment by the applicant, and the estimated total number is approximate only.”

The council's planning department recommended the proposals be given the go-ahead.

A report to the council said the development would contribute to the economy.

A previous application from the developer to put up seven units on the site was approved by the authority in 2019.

The council's planning committee is set to vote on the application next week.
