MORE than 40 artists will throw open the doors to their workspaces this weekend as part of the Lake Mac Open Studios program.
The council-backed event will showcase both amateur and professional artists across 29 locations.
Visitors are free to drop in anytime from 10am-4pm to meet the artists, learn about their creative process and purchase works.
"Lake Mac has a proud history of producing top-quality artists," the council's manager arts, culture and tourism Jacqui Hemsley said.
"Our creative community is such an important element of Lake Mac's identity and we hope locals and visitors will see the Open Studios as an opportunity to gain a better understanding."
Blackalls Park abstract landscape artist Michelle Teear is participating for a second consecutive year.
"My practice looks at ways of developing a relationship with the Australian landscape. I particularly enjoy working with arid environments because it gives you that stripped back viewpoint," she said.
Lake Macquarie mayor Cr Kay Fraser said she would visit Tinkat Alley Art Studio in Fassifern on Saturday.
"Our city is full of creative people and this weekend we get to celebrate and learn from them," she said.
A map and information about each artist is available on the Open Studios page on the council's website. Brochures with maps are also available at Lake Mac Libraries.
All artists, open studios and visitors are required to comply with the NSW Health COVID-19 guidelines.
