Around 4,100 Americans remain in Afghanistan eleven days after evacuations first began, according to a new report.
In a briefing to congressional staff, first reported by CNN, the State Department reportedly said 4,400 Americans have been evacuated so far. CNN cited a Senate aide present at the briefing as its source.
More than 80,000 people have been evacuated in total since 14 August, including thousands of Afghans who worked with US forces during the 20-year conflict.
