Plans for new homes on the site of an old car wash at the edge of Woolton Village have been approved.
Liverpool Council’s planning committee gave the go ahead to plans for more than 30 new flats on the former Menlove Car Wash site after brief deliberations this morning.
A representative for applicants Plus Dane said the development on the now vacant car was would be an important improvement for a key gateway into Woolton Village.

The flats are set to be spread across a mixed three and four storey building and will be targeted towards the over-55s. As well as the new building, the development will also make use of an historic lodge already on the site.
However, ward councillor Kris Brown had appealed to the committee to send the plans back for further development after raising concerns about the scale of the development and its effect on traffic.
He said: “There is concern about the scale of the development, particularly when you compare it to the nearby Reynolds Court.
“There is also concern about an increase in parking issues in the area. Vale Road is a narrow residential road. There is a Tesco further down but it is mainly residential. It is hard enough to get your car down at the moment.”
Councillor Brown also raised the issue of traffic coming from Menlove Avenue, which is far busier.
However, despite those concerns, planning officers had recommended the plans for approval and the committee progressed the proposals with only one councillor voting against them.
