More than 3,000kg of cannabis found at the back of a lorry has been seized by officers – but the company that bought it says it is legal.

The huge haul was seized by Idaho State Police as the lorry was travelling through the state.

A Colorado company said it had purchased the marijuana where it is legal to sell and purchase the class B drug.

However, the lorry driver caught in the middle of the journey is now reportedly facing marijuana trafficking charges, CNN reported.

The discovery was made by officers on January 24, after it was stopped by an Idaho state trooper who was “suspicious” of the lorry.

A drug-sniffing dog was also suspicious and made alert of the presence of possible drugs, it is reported.

Denis Palamarchuck was arrested at the scene and court records indicated he spent four days detained.

He was since released after a $100,000 (£77,035) bond was posted.
