More than €26,000 of cannabis seized from grow house in bedroom of Galway house

More than €26,000 worth of cannabis was found in the bedroom of a house in Co Galway.

The seizure was made at a property in the Athenry area at around 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Gardai from the drugs unit in Galway raided the residence where they found a grow house of cannabis plants in two of the bedrooms.

Fans and lamps were installed to enable growth and these were also seized.

And a man in his 30s was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the incident.

He was held at the North Western Regional Headquarters in Murrough before being released without charge.

A garda spokeswoman said: "A man in his late 30s was arrested on Wednesday arising from the detection and detained at the North Western Regional Headquarters in Murrough, Co Galway under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"The man was released without charge on Thursday May 7, 2020 and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions."
