More than 200,000 pairs of a popular brand of heated socks sold at Costcos across the nation have been recalled after reports that customers were left with second-degree burns.
The garments, branded as 32 Degrees Heated Socks, were on sale at branches of Costco and online from August 2025 to March 2026, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
When worn during high-intensity activities that generate friction, heat, moisture and pressure, the socks can pose “an injury hazard including burns,” the commission has warned. Roughly 14 incidents have been reported so far, with 13 involving first or second-degree burns.
Shoppers have been urged to immediately stop wearing the socks and to return them to their local branch of Costco for a full refund.
The socks were sold in three sizes - medium, large and extra large - with each pair black in color. The casing and packaging for the product’s battery, as well as the user manual and retail packaging, are labeled with “32° HEAT.”
A total of 207,806 pairs of socks were sold in-store and online for between $30 and $46, according to the commission. The recall warning was issued on April 23.
According to the 32 Degrees website, the product was sold exclusively through Costco and should not be returned to the manufacturer.
The development comes just weeks after another product sold at Costco was recalled. Around 740,000 Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue stainless steel sauté pans were sold at Costco, as well as Walmart and Amazon.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that a metal cap on the screw connecting the pan with the handle can detach and “forcefully eject” when heated.
E. Mishan & Sons, Inc., the company that imports the pans, reported that it is aware of at least 98 incidents of the metal cap being ejected. One incident resulted in a consumer sustaining bruising and burn injuries.
The pans were sold in a 2-piece set between August 2021 and February 2026 for around $40. Around 740,000 units were sold during that period.
