POLICE have said they charged more than 20 people with speeding offences on the NC500 over the weekend.
The popular route has faced a number of issues in recent years, including speeding and problems with toilet facilities.
In a post on Facebook, Police Scotland said 24 people were arrested following a “weekend of engagement activity” from May 17 to 19.
The statement said 24 drivers were charged with speeding offences and one person was charged with careless driving.
It added that another individual was found to be driving an unregistered vehicle on a road without insurance or valid driving licence and that two other offences relating to vehicle documentation were detected.
PC Taylor from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit commented: "The NC500 is a beautiful route, but it's important to remember that it's also a public road.
"We are committed to keeping the NC500 safe for everyone who uses it, whether they are local residents or visitors enjoying the scenery.
"This weekend's operation is a reminder that we will take robust action against those who choose to put themselves and others at risk through their manner of driving.
"We encourage all road users to be responsible and follow the rules of the road. If you have any concerns or information about offender behaviour on the NC500, you can report this by calling 101, online HERE, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
