The post on the Tameside Hospital, Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust Facebook page said: "We are delighted to share with you that we have discharged an additional 23 patients who were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 in the last 7 days.

"That's 157 patients discharged in total.

"Thanks to the dedication and care of all our teams across the hospital, community, and our colleagues in primary and social care."

This comes after more than 140 patients were discharged from hospitals in Manchester after beating coronavirus.

141 people who tested positive for COVID-19 were able to leave the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust hospitals, which include the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General, over a period of seven days.

16 patients at Stepping Hill Hospital were also able to leave the COVID-19 unit to continue their recovery at home.

At least 1,208 people have died in our region's hospitals after testing positive for COVID-19, according to the latest figures released on Monday (April 27).

The NHS said a further 17 people have died in Greater Manchester, which is the lowest 24-hour rise in deaths for the region in just over three weeks.
