More than 15,000 cases reported nationwide

Newly confirmed cases of infection with the novel coronavirus topped 15,000 nationwide on Thursday, the highest level Japan has seen so far in the pandemic.

The previous record of 14,207 had been reached on Wednesday, just one day before.
