More than £100k of stolen goods discovered after police spot 'mighty suspicious' scene

More than £100,000-worth of stolen goods were discovered by police in a raid after offices spotted a 'mighty suspicious' scene.

Police executed a warrant at a site just outside of Bury, in Shawclough Road, Rossendale, on Tuesday (March 16).

Officers saw that 'a number of vehicles and parts' on the premises 'looked mighty suspicious', prompting a specialist stolen vehicle team to confirm that the items had been taken in thefts.

Police 'totted up' the vehicles and parts found during the raid - totalling more than £100,000.

The warrant came after the local community raised concerns with police from the Rossendale and Ribble Valley force.

Officers are now trying to track down those responsible and have appealed for those with information to come forward.

In a statement, Rossendale Police said: "Officers from the Rossendale and Ribble Valley rural task forces have today been out with our colleagues from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to execute a warrant at a premises in Shawclough Road, Rossendale.

"Once on site, police quickly determined that a number of the vehicles and parts looked mighty suspicious and we had reason to believe they might need looked at.

"Our specialist stolen vehicle team were quickly on hand to confirm that they were indeed stolen.

"Over £100,000 worth of parts belonging to plant equipment and stolen vehicles was totted up by the team and enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible.

"The warrant was executed following our local community raising concerns, so we would like to thank them for their help."
