More than 100 people attend funeral of 'brave' Hucknall woman who was 'loved by everybody'

More than 100 people paid their respects to a Hucknall woman 'who was loved by everybody'.

Sam Hart was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2013 and died peacefully in her sleep on June 18.

She was 45 and leaves behind husband Mike, 46, son Thomas, 18, and daughter Evie, 12.

On Wednesday afternoon (July 3), friends and family attended her funeral which took place at Mansfield Crematorium, in Derby Road.

Some of those who gathered said it was a 'pleasure' and a 'privilege' to have known the former Games Workshop worker.

Family friend Pam Harris, 78, of Arnold, who used to work at Boots, paid tribute before the service.

She explained she made Sam's wedding dress, and well as dresses for the bridesmaids, adding: "She was a lovely girl, you can't say much more about her.

"She was certainly brave. She was always a very nice person, let's put it that way."

Family friend Bryan Beales, 74, of Bilborough, a retired bus and coach driver, added: "She was like another daughter to us.

"Nothing ever bothered her.

"Sam had a carefree attitude, I do not know how she did it to be quite truthful. She was a lovely girl. It's a pleasure to know her."

Tributes were read out during the service including one which described her as "a beautiful lady, inside and out".

Mr and Mrs Hart were also part of the House Spiders bikers' group.

NottinghamshireLive previously reported Mrs Hart had been given a month to live and appealed for readers to come forward and help her to fulfil her dying wish to ride on a trike for one last time.

That wish was granted, as hundreds of bikers rallied to carry the couple from Hucknall to Matlock, in Derbyshire, on their 23rd wedding anniversary on June 15.

The man who rode them to Matlock was at the funeral.

Trike rider Nick Farmer, 57, of Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire, offered to help after hearing of Mrs Hart's story.

He rode it to the service, behind a campervan which acted as the hearse and a number of bikers.

He said: "Although it's a sad occasion, I have got a photo of her sat on my trike with the biggest smile on her face.

"I achieved what she wanted, and Mike.

"After years of all her suffering, and unfortunately with her passing away three days later, I feel like I have made her life complete."

He added: "Again I am helping to give her her final send off and help out when I can.

"All the bikes came first, there was Sam in the campervan, the family cars and I rode behind.

"It was a privilege for me to even be here."

Rob Partridge, 65, of Hucknall, who used to work for the Office for National Statistics, plays in a folk-rock band called RPM with Mr Hart, who is the owner of a commercial cleaning company.

"She was incredible, she really was. I never heard her winge about anything," said Mr Partridge.

"She was absolutely determined to make that trike ride, no matter what.

"Her and Mike were completely inseparable, it's going to be really hard for him and the two kids."

Fellow band member Robert Irving, 64, of Hucknall, a retired joiner, sent his love to the family.

Mr Irving, who plays guitar and is a backing vocalist in the band, said: "I know Mike from his father, he's been a vicar all his life.

"I did not know Sam until I started going up to Mike's house to practice with the band.

"She had a strong character, she was loved by everybody. I send all my love to the whole family."

Mr Hart said: "I just want to thank everybody that turned up. It's a great privilege to see everybody."

"She was an all-round beautiful person and the love of my life.

"I had been preparing myself for a while but it was still such a shock when it happened and I found her lying there. It was heartbreaking."

Speaking previously, he said: "She was such a devoted wife and mother to our two .
