More than 100 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Bristol in one week

Bristol recorded 105 new coronavirus cases in one week, the latest figures show.

The city's seven-day total between April 9 to 16 - the most up-to-date data - reveals more than a 100 new infections.

Bristol now has a Covid rate of 22.7 per 100,000 people - slightly below the national average of 24.8.

South Gloucestershire's rate has fallen to 15.1 after this district reported 43 new cases in one week.

North Somerset's rate is 18.6, and Bath and North East Somerset's has now dropped to 9.3 - one of the lowest in the UK.

Data also shows no new Covid deaths have been recorded in Bristol and the surrounding areas over the past 24 hours.

The total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test across the city since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 1,349.

There were 33 new Covid cases recorded across all four local authorities today, with Bristol seeing the bulk of these with 20 new infections.

Seven positive tests were recorded in North Somerset, and three in each of South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset.

The new cases in Bristol are part of a total of 2,396 recorded across the UK in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide total to 4,395,703.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • Bristol - 30,728 (+20)

  • North Somerset - 10,051 (+7)

  • South Gloucestershire - 15,164 (+3)

  • Bath and North East Somerset - 8,209 (+3)

UK figures

There were 22 people whose deaths were recorded today, within 28 days of a positive test, across the UK.

Over 127,000 have lost their lives across the UK since the pandemic began, but the daily number of fatalities has been on the decline since the second peak on January 19.

There were also 192 people admitted to hospital across the UK in the latest figures, with the total over the previous recorded seven days now sitting at 1,369 - a decline of over 200 on the seven days before.

As things stand, the number of people have received their first vaccine dose has passed 33 million, with the current total sitting at 33,139,742.

There have also now been over 10 million who have received their second jab.
