More than 100 jobs saved as Notts distribution firm is sold to Cotton Traders

More than 100 jobs have been saved after a deal to sell Nottinghamshire distribution firm Prolog to Cotton Traders was secured.

The clothing giant will take on 130 members of the Annesley company's warehouse staff, as well as its contents and technical equipment, through the sale.

Prolog, which was based at Sherwood Business Park, entered administration in November, placing 522 jobs at risk. Half of its sites, including one in Suffolk, was bought by new firm Prolog Fulfilment Limited, which operates in the e-fulfilment and returns markets sector, saving 330 jobs.

The sale of the remainder of the company, which operated in the warehousing and distribution sector, was secured by administrator Mazars LLP.

Rebecca Dacre, director at Mazars, said: “Throughout this process Prolog’s employees and clients have been resilient and supportive in what has been a difficult and uncertain time. It is to their credit that, during administration, there has been minimal disruption to customers.

"Thanks to the efforts of all parties, the future of the Sherwood Park facility is secure, along with 130 jobs."

Prolog was a fulfilment partner for Cotton Traders and a long-term lease has now been secured with the landlord of the Sherwood Park Warehouse, which was previously operated by Prolog.

The notice of intention to appoint administrators was filed on Tuesday, November 22. In a statement, Mazars said this followed the withdrawal of financial support by a group company.
