- More than 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines from the London Fire Brigade were called to tackle a major blaze at a recycling centre on Landmann Way in Bermondsey, southeast London, on Monday afternoon.

- Crews utilised two 32-metre turntable ladders to combat the fire from above, with Station Commander Wayne Bloomfield indicating it would be a “protracted incident” requiring firefighters to remain on site until the following morning.
- The incident caused considerable disruption to local train services, with Southeastern Rail Service diverting trains and Thameslink reporting blocked lines between London Bridge and Dartford.
- Network Rail highlighted the serious safety risks posed by fires in railway areas, including potential damage to signalling equipment and track infrastructure, and urged passengers to verify their travel plans.
