More than 100 cannabis plants discovered by police inside house in Tameside

More than 100 cannabis plants have been discovered by police inside a house in Tameside.

Police were initially called to reports of a burglary at an address on Chapel Street, in Dukinfied, on Wednesday night.

When they arrived to the scene they discovered a cannabis form.

Officers from Ashton-under-Lyne police station removed more than 100 of the plants from the property.

An investigation has been launched to trace the owner of the plants.

An image on social media showed large numbers of police vehicles parked outside a house on the street.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A report came in late last night of a suspected Burglary.

"A large number of cannabis plants, over 100, have been removed by staff today from Ashton Police Station.

"Enquiries are on-going to identify the owner."
