More than 1,000 homes approved by An Bord Pleanala for Kilcarbery site in Clondalkin

More than 1,000 homes have been approved for a site in Clondalkin.

The Kilcarbery development, which will be built on 29 acres of land owned by South Dublin County Council, has been approved by An Bord Pleanala.

It will see 1,034 homes built of which 310 will be social housing and 724 will be privately developed.

SDCC will receive €38 million from developer Adwood Ltd to construct the social homes, private homes and 50 units at discounted prices.

Among the private homes will be three and four-bed houses as well as one, two and three-bed apartments.

A community centre will also be built and then handed over to the council, as well as a creche and retail unit.

Daniel McLoughlin, Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council, said: “This is a vital element of our overall council-led housing strategy to deliver 4,500 homes over the next few years. We must now get on with commencement on site at the earliest opportunity and look forward to the development of this new community. “
