More than 1,000 goblins and ghouls enjoy a spooktacular Hallowe'en at Threave Garden and Estate

More than 1,200 goblins, ghouls and older zombies enjoyed Hallowe’en fun at Threave Garden and Estate at the weekend.

The National Trust for Scotland property put on a Creepy Crawl for youngsters with a spooky trail around the site on the edge of Castle Douglas.

Hallowe’en themed catering – including severed finger shortbread – proved extremely popular and the spirits ensured the weather played ball too.

Staff, volunteers and student gardeners pulled out all the stops to offer up apple dooking and grave grabbing with youngsters encouraged to head along in fancy dress.

The Creepy Crawl ran from Friday until Sunday and Friday evening also saw a special Get Spooked extravaganza for adults and older children.

Members of Folksy Theatre took ghost hunters on a scary tour of the house and those that survived were rewarded with a body part burger.

Although its the low season, Threave is still open every day from 10am until 4pm and planning is underway on a magnificent programme of Christmas events.
