More Tanguy Ndombele questions raised as Roy Keane issues transfer warning to Tottenham

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Sunday, June 21.

The latest tale of Tanguy Ndombele

Jose Mourinho’s tactics on Friday against Manchester United raised more than a few eyebrows, with the Spurs boss electing to use up just two of the five substitutions available to him.

That decision of course meant there was no return to action for Tanguy Ndombele, despite the game situation seemingly suiting the Frenchman.

Mourinho made big noises about being pleased with Ndombele’s application in recent weeks, and even went as far as breaching government guidelines to visit him during lockdown.

But his no-show against United will raise further questions about his future – questions that will no doubt be asked ahead of Spurs’ clash with West Ham.

Roy Keane’s transfer warning

Roy Keane has warned Spurs they’ll struggle to take advantage of the five substitutions rule – and said it’s their own fault.

Jose Mourinho claimed after the draw against United that he had no way of reacting to the game with substitutions, and speaking on Sky Sports post-match, Keane agreed and said Spurs need more depth if they want to continue being considered a big side.

"With the strength in-depth that United have, obviously, City, Liverpool and Chelsea - I think it’s a huge advantage,” Keane said.

"Saying that, if you class Tottenham as a big club, then it’s their own fault for not having that strength in-depth.”

Diego Godin’s transfer admission

Diego Godin has denied that he’s looking to leave Inter Milan this summer, despite being linked with a move to Spurs over the last few months.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Godin said: “The truth is that these reports about my future away from Milan surprise me a lot.

“Since I’ve been at Inter, I’ve always felt good both at the club and with the fans. I feel the trust of the club and I’m at home here.

“It never occurred to me to leave Inter. I feel totally part of the project and the dressing room is spectacular.

“My intention is to respect my contract and enjoy this wonderful adventure in Italy wearing the Nerazzurri shirt.”
