Residents in the upper part of the country are being warned to brace themselves for another round of summer thunderstorms and high winds, expected to hit the region next week.
Thunderstorms, strong winds and hail are forecast in the Northeast from Tuesday to Friday, while the North, the Central Plains, the eastern region and Bangkok will face storms during April 25-27.
According to the Meteorological Department, a high-pressure system from China is expected to extend to cover upper Thailand where the hot weather has already resulted in thunder and hailstorms in some areas.
People are advised to keep away from unsecured structures, such as trees and billboards and farmers should beware of crop damage.
Manoon Dor-oy, deputy chief of the Northeastern Meteorological Centre, said the upper Northeast should expect to be the first area hit by the weather system and urged people to take precautions.
Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Kalasin and Khon Kaen will feel the brunt first, followed by Buri Ram in the lower Northeast and then the Central Plains, Mr Manoon said.
"We can't forecast how bad the thunderstorms will be. But you can expect strong winds and hail. Several areas in the northeastern region have suffered extensive damage already from thunderstorms," he said.
In Si Sa Ket, violent storms ravaged seven villages in tambon Bok and tambon Phor of Non Khun district on Thursday night, damaging 31 houses, one school, and 18 cattle pens.
