More signings to come at Mansfield Town says chairman as club target promotion push

Mansfield Town chairman John Radford has teased supporters that there will be more signings to come this summer, after the Stags captured former Premier League forward Nicky Maynard.

The 32-year-old penned a deal at Field Mill on Tuesday after his exit from financially-troubled Bury.

And the striker told the media upon his arrival at the club's Portuguese training camp that he has 'six or seven contracts on the table'.

But Radford has promised supporters that their marquee signing will be their only summer business this window as he promises to do everything he can to push the Stags to promotion this season.

“We’re looking forward to the start of the season, and we’re enjoying the pre-season at the moment, having a long break as a family,” he told the club's website.

“I’m always chasing the [league] title - I have for the last three years - and I will keep chasing that title. I’ll do everything I can to get that title.

“With John Dempster in place, and some of the quality we have in our youth system, and the players that he is signing, I think we’ve got a fair chance.

He continued: “There are a couple more [signings] to come, at least. We’re only going to add quality to the squad.

“We’ll strengthen the squad but not with too many more numbers. There will possibly be another three people coming in.”
