More sale toppers heading to Gordon Elliott's stables after fetching huge sums

Gordon Elliott can look forward to training two more sale-toppers after the second day of the Goffs Land Rover sale concluded.

The top lot at Wednesday's sale - a son of Walk in Park and a half-brother to Grade 1-winning Monalee - went for €220,000.

The purchasers were construction magnates Andrew and Gemma Brown who also splashed out €150,000 for a filly sired by Champs Elysees.

Both of these horses will be trained by Elliott at his Cullentra Stables once his suspension comes to an end this September.

It follows yesterday's sale when the Browns spent €200,000 on a horse called Aide Memorie, while Noel and Valerie Moran, fellow backers of Elliott's yard, bought a brother of Grade 1-winning hurdler and Listed Flat winner Airlie Beach for €230,000.

The second highest priced store sold today was a son of Milan from Kilmoney Cottage Stud, vendors of chasing great Altior, purchased for €165,000 by Tom Malone and English trainer Paul Nicholls who earlier went to €135,000 for Ijing Shang Enki, a Network gelding.
