Yet more houses have been proposed for a major development on the site of a former factory in Prescot.
Miller Homes has applied for permission to build another 29 houses on its part of the Prescot Cables development, which would take the number of new homes in the area to 695.
The extra houses would be built just south of the former Remondis hazardous waste plant, which burned down in 2016.
The land was originally earmarked for commercial use that would provide a “buffer” between the wider housing development and the Remondis plant. However, Miller Homes now argues that this is no longer required as the waste facility is not expected to be brought back into use following the fire.

A similar application for land just west of the former Remondis site was approved in December 2020, which Miller Homes said supported its own proposals.
The wider development, which replaces the former BICC cable factory, was originally expected to deliver 750 houses, but so far has not reached this target.
In its application, Miller Homes said: “The Prescot Cables site has not delivered the development numbers originally envisaged, therefore the addition of 29 dwellings will provide an important contribution to housing land supply and maximise the redevelopment of this important brownfield site”.
The company aims to combine the proposed 29 homes with another 55 houses directly to the south, which is the subject of a different planning application, and will include at least three affordable three-bedroom homes.
Members of the public can view the plans on Knowsley Council’s website, and the authority aims to make a decision on the application by the end of March.
